Will I have one contact to deal with at The Shire Hall?
The Wedding Co-ordinator works full time and will work with you right up to your big day. The Wedding Co-ordinator will invite you to come for a final meeting approximately 2 months before your wedding day to discuss the arrangements of your day. The Wedding Co-ordinator will be here on your wedding day to ensure that everything runs to plan.
What time can we arrive on our Wedding Day?
The Registrar likes to interview the Bride and Groom before the Ceremony. We will have a room set aside for this purpose. We would suggest that the couple arrive at least half an hour before the Ceremony is due to start. Guests can start to arrive at the Shire Hall one hour before the Ceremony is due to start.
When do I have to confirm final numbers?
Please give an approximate number of guests 6 weeks before the Wedding and final numbers at least 5 working days prior to the Ceremony
Do you allow children to attend Weddings at The Shire Hall?
Yes, we welcome children but request that they are supervised at all times
Will I need a microphone for the speeches?
We think that the acoustics at The Shire Hall are extremely good. If you feel that one is necessary however we will be happy to provide one free of charge. We also having a Hearing Loop which can be installed in the room to assist the hard of hearing
What time does our party need to finish?
In consideration of local residents and due to our licensing terms we ask that music finishes at 12.00 and everybody has left the building by 12.30am
Can we have live music or a disco at our Wedding?
Yes, we are fully licensed for entertainment.
Where can we leave our coats for the day?
We have a large clothes rail where guests can leave their coats securely
Does the Shire Hall have a lift?
It does, to every floor
Do you have wi-fi?
Yes we do, throughout the building. Data projectors, screens and laptops are also available if required
Can we use the area under the arches and the cobbles?
This can be arranged subject to availability at a separate charge
Can you recommend any local suppliers?
We have a contact list which includes details of a number of florists, discos, photographers, caterers, live bands etc. Please ask for details
Can we decorate the building?
Absolutely. We are happy for you to do whatever you like although blu-tac cannot be used on the walls. We can help you find imaginative solutions and make suggestions about making the most of our lovely rooms.
Can we throw confetti?
Yes you can although we do ask that it is organic/biodegradable.
